A big FUCK YOU goes out to the Georgia State Representatives, who voted unanimously today to make the practice of genital piercing illegal for women - but not men.

The main purpose of the original bill (enacted in 1995) was to make female genital mutilation, a brutal ritual practiced in many African and Middle Eastern countries, a crime punishable by up to 20 years in prison, but at the last minute the bill was amended to include the practice for female genital piercing.

"The original intent of the amendment was to make illegal the voluntary piercing of female genitalia for decorative purposes," said Rep. Bill Heath (R-Bremen).

Heath said that while some piercings do fall under the category of involuntary genital mutilation, he is fine with banning the voluntary procedures as well.

When told that some adults actually do VOLUNTARILY seek the piercing, Heath responded, "What? I've never seen such a thing," Heath said. "I, uh, I wouldn't approve of anyone doing it. I don't think that's an appropriate thing to be doing."

The ban applies only to women, not men. Apparently the Georgia State Representatives feel that it is still OK for a man to drive a nail through his penis, but not for women. Does this mean a woman can still drive a nail through a man's penis? Is a pierced clit now suddenly more morally offensive than that aging rocker dude who still wears that huge shark toothed earring? (you know the ones...) Are they going to outlaw images of women with genital piercings as well, now? How do you prosecute this? Oops, I suddenly accidentally stuck a needle through my clit and left it there..... it wasn't my fault officer.... I was drunk and I thought it was my earlobe...

The bill has already been approved by the Senate but now must return to the chamber because of the piercing amendment. Both chambers of the Legislature must agree on a single version of a bill before it can go to the governor for final approval.
